Fort Collins Pro Bono Intakes

Who:  To clients who qualify, residents of Fort Collins, Red Feather Lakes, Bellvue, Wellington and areas north of Trilby Road.

What:  Referral to private legal counsel (pro bono) or to appropriate agencies.  Must meet income/financial eligibility guidelines.  Intakes do not handle bankruptcy, criminal, workers compensation, social security or personal injury cases. 

When:  Wednesdays at 12:00 Noon (except on major holidays, week of Thanksgiving and the week between Christmas and New Year’s).  First come, first served; 8 eligible intakes.     

Where:  Larimer County Justice Center, 201 LaPorte Avenue, 4th Floor, Fort Collins.

Note: Proof of income required for intake (for example, last year's tax return and three (3) months of paystubs or bank statements) 

No applications received after 12:00 PM.

 

Loveland Pro Bono Intakes

Who:  To clients who qualify, residents of Loveland, Estes Park, Berthoud, Masonville, and areas south of Trilby Road.

What:  Referral to private legal counsel (pro bono) or to appropriate agencies.  Must meet income/financial eligibility guidelines. Intakes do not handle bankruptcy, criminal, workers compensation, social security or personal injury cases.   

When:  Thursdays at 10:00 AM (see holiday restrictions above).  First come, first served; 6 eligible intakes.  Intakes do not handle bankruptcy, criminal, workers compensation, social security or personal injury cases. 

Where:  Loveland Community Health Center, 450 N. Cleveland Avenue, Loveland.

Larimer County District Court Pro Se Class

Who:  Open to the public. 

What:  No legal advice, brief video and explanation of court proceedings.  The class is taught by the Family Court Facilitator.

When: Every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month from 3-5:00 PM. 

Where:  Larimer County Justice Center, 201 LaPorte Avenue, 2nd Floor (Jury Assembly Room), Fort Collins.

 

Larimer County Bar Association Domestic Assistance Class

Who:  Open to the public.

What:  Class offers no legal advice, only legal information.  Clinics help individuals process their own dissolution of marriage (divorce) or allocation of parental responsibility (custody) actions.  Volunteer attorneys and paralegals provide assistance with forms and basic legal questions.   

When:  Every 2nd and 4th Monday of each month from 3-5:00 PM.  Please arrive 15 minutes early for check-in and registration.

Where:  Larimer County Justice Center, 201 LaPorte Avenue, 2nd Floor (Jury Assembly Room), Fort Collins.

 

Call a Lawyer Night

Who:  Open to the public.

What:  Members of the Young Lawyers Division answer telephone calls from the public concerning legal issues.  Referrals to specific attorneys are not given, but are made to legal services, websites, non-profits, and other resources.  Brief advice may also be given. 

Where & When:  Dates, times and telephone number to call are published in The Coloradoan and with First Call 211.

 

Colorado State University Student Legal Services

Who: To eligible Colorado State University students (i.e. fulltime fee paying students) 

What:  Provides legal advice and counsel on a variety of legal issues.

When:  Academic Year, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Summer Session, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Colorado Legal Services

Who: To clients who qualify, residents of Larimer County

What:  Free civil legal services.  Must meet income/financial eligibility guidelines.  Does not handle criminal, DUI, traffic, misdemeanor, workers compensation, or personal injury cases.  Takes limited post-divorce cases.    

When:  8:30 AM-12 Noon, 1-4 PM M-F

Office of the State Public Defender

Who:  To clients who qualify, residents of Larimer County.

What:  Free legal services for all felonies, juvenile and selected misdemeanors.  Must meet income/financial eligibility guidelines and pay $25 application fee. 

When:  8:00 AM – 5:00 PM M-F.

Dependency and Neglect Court Appointed Attorneys

Who: To those parents who qualify, residents of Larimer County

What: Court appointed legal representation for parents in a dependency and neglect proceeding.

Where:  Forms for application for Court-appointed counsel are available at the initial hearing or the Clerk of Court’s office or downloaded from the Court’s webpage.

 

Colorado Child Support Enforcement

Who:  All parents with minor children who need or are owed child support.  Limited services for obligors.

What:  Can apply for CSE services.  $20 nonrefundable application free; free application if on public assistance.

Crossroads Safehouse

Who:  All persons experiencing domestic violence.

What:  Agency provides legal advocacy and also has pro bono attorneys to offer brief advice during the evening, every two  weeks.

Bringing Justice Home

Who:  All persons experiencing domestic violence and/or sexual assault.  Must meet income/financial eligibility guidelines.   

What:  Provides no cost bilingual legal representation in a wide range of services including protection orders, divorce and custody.  Serves Larimer, Routt, Grand, Moffat and Jackson counties by DV/RV (domestic violence resource vehicle). 

Where: Call Crossroads (970) 482- 3502; appointments are available between hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.  Alternative appointment options are available.
