In Colorado,
Protection Orders used to be known as “Restraining” Orders. A Protective Order is a Court Order
prohibiting one party from contacting or coming within a certain
distance of another party. The standard for obtaining
or defending against a Protection Order is whether the victim has
been subjected to violence or threats of violence from the other
person. Protection Orders can be obtained in the County
Court and also the District (Family) Court.
